Host nation Brazil will get us under way against Croatia at 21:00 BST on Thursday.
Luiz Felipe Scolari's team, boasting stellar
names such as Neymar, Oscar and Hulk, are many people's favourites to
win the tournament outright but their group is far from straightforward.
Croatia might not be as
strong as in their glory days of the late 1990s but still have the likes
of Luka Modric and Ivan Rakitic among their ranks. Star striker Mario
Mandzukic will also be a threat, although he is suspended for the
opening fixture, which is live on ITV.
Brazil and Croatia share the group with Mexico and Cameroon, who meet on Friday at 17:00 BST, also on ITV.
